Feel heard, understand yourself
and start meaningful change

You may be managing work stress, struggling in a relationship, adjusting to a major change or feeling overwhelmed without fully understanding why. Perhaps you are sleeping poorly, finding it difficult to switch off or noticing the same emotional or relationship patterns repeating themselves.

Individual therapy offers a confidential space to pause and explore what is happening beneath the surface. You do not need to have everything figured out - or wait until life becomes unmanageable - before seeking support.

How individual therapy can help

People begin counselling for many different reasons. Some arrive with a specific concern they want to address, while others simply sense that something is not right. You may feel stuck, disconnected from yourself or tired of coping alone.

Individual counselling can support you with:

  • Anxiety, worry and feeling overwhelmed

  • Work-related stress and burnout

  • Relationship or family difficulties

  • Grief, loss and bereavement

  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism

  • Traumatic or distressing experiences

  • Loneliness or difficulty feeling connected

  • Relocation and cross-cultural adjustment

  • Parenthood, career changes and other life transitions

  • Repeating emotional or relationship patterns

  • Questions about identity, direction or meaning

Therapy can also be valuable when there is no immediate crisis. You may want to understand yourself more deeply, communicate more openly, develop healthier boundaries or make changes that improve your relationships and quality of life.

A space where you can speak openly

Therapy with me begins with listening. You are offered a space where you can talk without being judged, dismissed or rushed towards solutions.

You do not need to justify your difficulties to deserve support. Some clients come to therapy knowing exactly what they want to work on. Others find it difficult to put their experience into words and only know that they no longer want to continue feeling the same way. Both are equally welcome.

My role is not to tell you how to live your life. I work collaboratively with you, helping you make sense of your experiences and notice the patterns, beliefs and emotional undercurrents that may be influencing how you feel, respond and relate to others.

Alongside empathy and careful listening, I may offer a different perspective or gently challenge patterns that no longer serve you. Therapy is not only about feeling understood; it is also about creating meaningful and lasting change.

Therapy shaped

around you

There is no single therapeutic approach that suits everyone. My work is integrative and tailored to the person in front of me, drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Existential Therapy and Family Systems Therapy.

Depending on what you need, our sessions may help you:

  • Understand the triggers and patterns behind your difficulties

  • Process emotions or experiences that have been difficult to face alone

  • Develop more helpful ways of responding to stress and anxiety

  • Recognise and challenge unhelpful beliefs

  • Improve your relationships and communication

  • Build stronger boundaries and greater self-compassion

  • Make considered choices during periods of change

  • Reconnect with your values and sense of direction

As a counsellor with extensive cross-cultural experience, I understand that emotional wellbeing is shaped by more than individual psychology. Culture, family expectations, relocation, identity and the experience of living between different worlds can all influence how you understand yourself and relate to others.

I also adapt my support to clients across different neurotypes rather than expecting everyone to think, communicate or process emotions in the same way.

Taking the first step

Many people seek individual counselling after managing quietly on their own for a long time. You may have told yourself to cope, stay composed or avoid burdening others. Over time, however, carrying everything alone can become exhausting.

Starting therapy may feel uncomfortable, particularly if you are used to being independent or come from a culture in which emotional difficulties are kept private. Concerns about being judged, misunderstood or seen as weak are common.

Seeking counselling is not a sign that you have failed to cope. It is a considered step towards understanding what you need and taking your emotional wellbeing seriously. You do not have to wait until you reach a crisis to begin.

What happens in the first session?

The first session gives us an opportunity to explore what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with. I may ask about your current circumstances, how long the difficulties have been present, what you have already tried and what you hope might change through therapy.

You will also have the opportunity to ask questions, learn more about how I work and consider whether you feel comfortable talking with me. A good therapeutic relationship matters, so the first session is also about deciding whether working together feels right for you.

There is no predetermined number of sessions. Some people come with a focused concern and choose shorter-term counselling, while others benefit from having more time to explore long-standing patterns or complex experiences. We can discuss what may suit you and review our work as therapy progresses.

In-person and online individual counselling

Individual therapy is available to adults and older teens. In-person counselling takes place in a private and conveniently located therapy room at The Adelphi, near City Hall MRT in central Singapore.

Online counselling is available for adults in Singapore and internationally. It can be particularly helpful if you have a demanding schedule, travel regularly, live outside Singapore or simply feel more comfortable speaking from your own space.

Both options provide dedicated, confidential time to explore what you are experiencing. You can choose the setting in which you feel most able to speak openly and engage with the process.

You do not need to know exactly what to say or what needs to change before contacting me. We can begin with what feels most present for you and work from there.
